White House Announcement Highlights Initiatives to Empower Veterans and Military-connected Families in Cybersecurity

Impact of ISC2 and Haystack Solutions Partnership Spotlighted

The recent press release from the White House shines a spotlight on efforts to bolster the cybersecurity workforce in North Carolina, particularly focusing on veterans, military-connected families, and individuals without traditional four-year degrees.

This initiative, led by National Cyber Director Harry Coker, Jr., highlights the collaboration among various organizations and educational institutions to create opportunities in cybersecurity.

One notable partnership mentioned in the press release is between the Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) and ISC2 (International Information System Security Certification Consortium). ISC2 is actively supporting the White House’s Military Connected Families Workforce Sprint and is committed to ensuring that cybersecurity jobs are accessible to veterans and military-connected families.

As part of its One Million Certified in Cybersecurity program, ISC2 will provide a minimum of 25,000 individuals from the military community with its foundational Certified in Cybersecurity certification exam and training for free. This initiative aims to address the critical cybersecurity skills gap and provide a pathway for veterans and military families into the cybersecurity industry.

Through a partnership with ISC2, Haystack Solutions has also pledged its support by offering its cyber aptitude and talent assessment, CyberGEN.IQ, to help uncover a job seeker’s aptitude and cognitive abilities without prior knowledge of the individual’s background. This assessment plays a crucial role in discovering untapped future cyber practitioners, predicting job performance, aligning talent with suitable job roles, and guiding individuals toward the highest-ROI training pathways.

The commitment from organizations like ISC2 and Haystack Solutions accentuates the importance of tapping into the talent pool of veterans and military families to strengthen the cybersecurity workforce. By providing access to training, certifications, and career opportunities, these initiatives benefit individuals seeking to enter the cybersecurity field and contribute to national security and resilience in the face of evolving cyber threats.

As cybersecurity threats become more sophisticated and frequent, partnerships among government agencies, educational institutions, and industry leaders become a vital component of building a skilled and diverse cybersecurity workforce. The efforts highlighted in the press release demonstrate a concerted commitment to empowering veterans, military spouses, and aspiring cybersecurity professionals with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in this vital sector.
